The Cat in the Hat Crochet Pencil Topper

Next week across the U.S and DoDEA school here in Germany and many other countries will be celebrating Dr Seuss week. My kids love his books and of course I do too. One of my favorite book is The Cat in The Hat, probably because I have twins boys that remind me all the time about thing one and thing two. In honor of Dr. Seuss' Birthday, I have a few tutorials to share with you next week. So make sure you follow me either here or on facebook.
Today I have made a tutorial for a quick pencil topper that can be given as a gift for your kids friends or even teachers.

Materials
White and Red Sport weight yarn or worsted weight yarn
3.25mm/D Hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
It is easy to work with the sport weight yarn rather than the worsted. The only difference in the finished product is that the worsted weight yarn hat comes out a little bigger. Here is a size by size photo which shows you the difference. The one on the left is smaller than the right.

Special Stitches
Back loop
Front loop
MC-Magic circle
